IHC staining of anti-GABRA2 antibody (clone N399/19) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human brain tissue. Following antigen retrieval using Sodium Citrate H.I.E.R. (Cat. No. 928502), the tissue was incubated with 5.0 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C. BioLegend’s Ultra Streptavidin HRP Kit (Multi-Species, DAB, Cat. No. 929501) was used for detection followed by hematoxylin counterstaining, according to the protocol provided. The image was captured with a 40X objective. Scale bar: 50 μm.

Description

GABRA2 is a type of alpha subunit which comprises two of the five subunits of the pentameric GABA-A ionotropic receptor. In response to GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) binding, the GABA-A receptor permits the passage of negatively-charged chloride ions, inhibiting action potential firing. GABRA2 is present in approximately 35% of all GABA-A receptors and is expressed primarily in the hippocampus and forebrain, where it plays a role in anxiolytic activity.
