Western blot of purified anti-FMIP antibody (clone F6D/11). Lane 1: Molecular weight marker; Lane 2: 30 µg of HeLa cell lysate; Lane 3: 30 µg of 3T3 cell lysate; Lane 4: 25 µg of PC12 cell lysate; Lane 5: 30 µg of CHO cell lysate . The blot was incubated with 1 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with HRP labeled goat anti-mouse IgG (Cat. No. 405306). Enhanced chemiluminescence was used as the detection system.

FMIP, also known as FMS-Interacting Protein and THOC5, is a member of the THO complex, which is part of the larger TREX (transcription/export) complex. The TREX complex binds specifically to spliced mRNA, where it binds upstream of the exon-junction complex and aids in mRNA export. TREX machinery is also utilized by Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus and certain other viruses for the propagation of virus production. FMIP may also be involved in granulocyte and adipocyte differentiation.
