Description

Lamin B2 is an essential building block of the nuclear lamina, a filamentous meshwork inside the inner nuclear membrane. It has high degree of protein sequence similarity to another lamin B protein, lamin B1. Both proteins are widely expressed in the early developmental stages of the brain. Knock-out studies have shown that deficiencies in the lamin B proteins lead to defect in neuronal migration. Loss of lamin B2 during retina development prevents proper lamination of adult retinal neurons, impairs synaptogenesis, and reduces cone photoreceptor survival. Lamin B2 is also expressed in the granular component of the nucleolus and functions in modulating nucleolar morphology, dynamics, and ribosome biogenesis.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by western blotting. For western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 1.0 - 10 µg/mL. For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, a concentration range of 1.0 - 10 µg/mL is suggested. For immunocytochemistry, a concentration range of 0.5 - 10 μg/mL is recommended. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
