C57BL/6 peritoneal macrophages were first treated with TruStain fcX™ (anti-mouse CD16/32) Antibody and True-Stain Monocyte Blocker™. Cells were then stained with PE anti-mouse CD209a (clone MMD3) (above) or PE mouse IgG2a, κ isotype control (below) and F4/80 (clone BM8) Alexa Fluor® 647. Data shown was derived from CD3/CD19/NK-1.1 negative populations. -
CHO-DC-SIGN transfected (filled histogram) and CHO-K1 (dashed histogram) cell lines were stained with PE anti-mouse CD209a (clone MMD3) antibody.

CD209a, is also known as Dendritic Cell-Specific Intercellular adhesion molecule 3 (ICAM-3)-Grabbing Nonintegrin (DC-SIGN) and CIRE. CD209a is the mouse homolog of human CD209, and is expressed on myeloid dendritic cells, placental macrophages, liver and placental endothelial cells. CD209 binds to ICAM-3 (CD50), ICAM-2 (CD102), and Butyrophilin (BTN2A1), and mediates dendritic cell migration and T cell proliferation. It plays a critical role in capturing and internalizing pathogens such as Streptococcus pneumoniae.
