IHC staining of anti-BRST-1 antibody (clone CU-18) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human breast tumor tissue. The tissue was incubated with the primary antibody at 1.47 µg/ml for 20 minutes at room temperature. BioLegend's Ultra Streptavidin (USA) HRP Kit (Multi-Species) was used for detection followed by counterstaining with hematoxylin.

Description

BRST1 is a carcinoma-associated antigen and a member of a family that includes at least two type I membrane proteins. This antigen is expressed on most normal epithelial cells and gastrointestinal carcinomas and functions as a homotypic calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded immunohistochemical staining. For immunohistochemistry, a concentration range of 1.0 - 5.0 µg/ml is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Application Notes

CU-18 detects a human breast carcinoma associated glycoprotein BCA-225, a 225 kD glycoprotein secreted by the T47D breast carcinoma cell line.

BRST-1 may act as a physical homophilic interaction molecule between intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) and intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs) at the mucosal epithelium for providing immunological barrier as a first line of defense against mucosal infection. BRST-1 plays a role in embryonic stem cells proliferation and differentiation.
