C57BL/6 bone marrow cells were stained with anti-mouse TER-119 APC and purified anti-mouse CD338 (ABCG) (clone S17006D) (left) or purified rat IgG2b, κ (right), followed by anti-rat IgG PE. Data shown was gated cells that were negative for anti-mouse CD45.

CD338, also known as ABCG2 or BCRP1, is a 72 kD multi-drug resistance (MDR) protein member of ATP binding cassette (ABC) transporters. CD338 is expressed on stem cells from a variety of tissues and in many cancer types where it contributes to their resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs. ABCG2 is also up-regulated during erythroid differentiation. The expression of ABCG2 appears to be highly conserved as it has been identified in various species.

For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤ 0.25 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume.
