Alix (ALG-2-interacting protein X) is an adaptor protein that was first described for its capacity to bind to the calcium-binding protein ALG-2, the expression of which seemed necessary for cell death. The predicted molecular weight is approximately 96 kD. Alix contains an N-terminal Bro1 domain and a C-terminal proline-rich domain (PRD). The PRD contains multiple polyproline motifs, which are potential docking sites for proteins containing SH3 domains, interact with multiple cellular Alix-binding partners that are involved in apoptotic induction, endosomal sorting, and endocytosis. The Bro1 domain interacts with CHMP4b, which is also involved in endosomal sorting.Product Details

Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. Western blotting, suggested working dilution(s): Use 1 µg/ml antibody dilution buffer for each mini-gel. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Clone 3A9 has been shown to be useful for Western blotting1, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence2 staining of the human and mouse Alix protein.
Clone 3A9 shows strong specificity for mouse Alix.
