Total lysates (15 µg protein) from BL21 (E. coli) were resolved by electrophoresis (4-20% Tris-glycine gel), transferred to nitrocellulose, and probed with 1:1000 (1 µg/ml) purified anti-Maltose Binding Protein antibody, clone YM-2. Proteins were visualized using chemiluminescence detection by incubation with HRP Goat anti-rat secondary antibody (Cat. No. 405405, 1:3000 dilution).

Description

The maltose-binding protein (MBP) makes up a part of the maltose/maltodextrin system in E. coli that is responsible for the uptake and catabolism of maltodextrins. It has a predicted molecular weight of 42.5 kDa and is used to increase the solubility of E. coli expressed recombinant proteins, or as an affinity tag for the purification of recombinant proteins.
