Western blot of purified anti-NG2 antibody (clone MEL62). Lane 1: Molecular weight marker; Lane 2: 40 µg of human brain lysate; Lane 3: 40 µg of mouse brain lysate; Lane 4: 40 µg of rat brain lysate. The blot was incubated with 10 µg/mL of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C, followed by incubation with HRP-labeled goat anti-mouse IgG (Cat. No. 405306). Enhanced chemiluminescence was used as the detection system. Mouse and rat brain lysates were included as negative control to demonstrate the specificity of this antibody to human NG2.

Description

CSPG4, best known as neuron-glial antigen 2 (NG2), is a chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan that is frequently used as a marker for oligodendrocyte progenitor cells. NG2 plays an important role in cell proliferation and migration. It also stabilizes cell-substratum interactions during early events in melanoma cell invasion on the endothelial basement membranes. Missense mutations in NG2 are segregated in familial forms of schizophrenia, implicating its role in neurodevelopmental disorders.
