Product Details

Source: Human IFN-γ, amino acids Gln24-Gln166 (Accession # NM_000619) was expressed in E. coli.
Formulation: 0.22 µm filtered protein solution is in 20mM NaH2PO4,150mM NaCl, pH 7.2.
Endotoxin Level: Endotoxin level is <0.1 EU/µg (<0.01ng/µg) protein as determined by the LAL method.
Preparation: 10-100µg sizes are bottled at 100µg/ml. 500µg and larger sizes are bottled at the concentration indicated on the vial.
Storage & Handling: Unopened vial can be stored at 4°C for three months or from -20°C to -70°C for six months. For maximum results, quick spin vial prior to opening. Stock solutions should be prepared at no less than 10 µg/ml in buffer containing carrier protein such as 1% BSA or HSA or 10% FBS. After dilution, the cytokine can be stored at 4°C for one month or from -20°C to -70°C for up to 3 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Activity: The ED50 is 0.416 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2.4 X106 units/mg, as determined by a dose dependent stimulation of HT-29 cells.
Application:

Bioassay

Recommended Usage:

Use when high specific biological activity is required.

Description:

Interferon-γ is a potent multifunctional cytokine which is secreted primarily by activated NK cells and T cells. Originally characterized based on anti-viral activities, IFN-γ also exerts anti-proliferative, immunoregulatory, and proinflammatory activities. IFN-γ can upregulate MHC class I and II antigen expression by antigen-presenting cells.

Other Names: Interferon-γ, Immune interferon, Type II interferon, T cell interferon, Macrophage-activating factor (MAF),
Structure: Cytokine; dimer
Regulation: Upregulated by IL-2, FGF-basic, EGF; downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN; labile at pH2
Cellular Sources: CD8+ and CD4+ T cells, NK cells
Cellular Targets: T cells, B cells, macrophages, NK cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts
Receptors: IFN-γRα (CDw119) dimerized with IFN-γRβ (AF-1)
Bioactivity/Activities: Antiviral/antiparasitic activities; inhibits proliferation; enhances MHC class I and II expression on APC
Antigen
