Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For immunofluorescent staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤0.5 µg per million cells in 100 µl volume. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

CD143 (ACE, kininase II, peptidyl dipeptidase 1, peptidase P, carboxycathepsin) is a 171 kD, type I, single chain transmembranal metallopeptidase, whose cofactor is zinc. Its main targets are angiotensin I and bradykinin, acting as a blood pressure regulator. CD143 is expressed in endothelial cells; varying amounts of CD143 have been reported in different epithelial cells. The activation of macrophages and histiocytes induces the expression of this molecule.

Single chain, type I transmembranal zinc metallopeptidase, 170 kD.
Distribution:
Endothelial cells, some types of epithelial cells, activated macrophages and histiocytes.
Function:
Regulates blood pressure by promoting vasoconstriction by the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and by the degradation of bradykinin, a vasodilator.
