MCF-7 cell extract was resolved

MCF-7 cell extract was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose, and probed with rabbit anti-eIF-2γ antibody. Proteins were visualized using a donkey anti-rabbit secondary conjugated to HRP and a chemiluminescence detection system.

Description: elF-2γ (also known as eukaryotic translation initiation factor eIF-2 gamma subunit and eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit 3) is a 52kD member of the GTP-binding elongation factor family, eIF2G subfamily. This cytoplasmic protein is ubiquitously expressed and has GTPase activity involved in the recruitment of methionyl-tRNA to the 40 S ribosomal subunit. Plays a role in translation initiation and elongation. Heterodimeric interaction with eIF-2α and β chains, acts as a cofactor for hepatitis C internal ribosome entry site-mediated translation. The Poly6068 antibody recognizes human eIF-2γ and has been shown to be useful for Western blotting.
Other Names: Eukaryotic translation initiation factor eIF-2 gamma subunit, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit 3
Structure: GTP-binding elongation factor family, eIF2G subfamily; heterotrimeric; 52 kD
Distribution: Cytoplasmic protein, ubiquitously expressed
Function: GTPase involved in the recruitment of methionyl-tRNA to the 40 S ribosomal subunit. Plays a role in translation initiation and elongation
Interaction: Interacts with eIF-2α and β chains, cofactor for hepatitis C internal ribosome entry site-mediated translation.
