Raji (lane 1) and A20
Raji (lane 1) and A20 (lane 2) cell extracts were resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with anti- Bcl -6 monoclonal antibody, IG191E/A8. Proteins were visualized using goat anti-mouse secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and a chemiluminescent system.

Description:

Bcl-6 is a transcriptional regulator gene which codes for a nuclear zinc finger protein of 706 amino acids.  Bcl-6 is expressed in T and B cells in germinal centers of lymphoid organs. It is also expressed in follicular lymphoma, Burkitt's lymphoma and majority of the Reed-Sternberg cells in Hodgkin's disease.  Although Bcl-6 expression has been extensively studied in normal and neoplastic B cell development, subsets of follicular CD4+ T cells are also found to express Bcl-6.

Other Names: BCL6
Structure: A nuclear zinc finger protein with 706 amino acids, predicted Mw of around 80kD.
Distribution: Nucleus, expressed in germinal center T and B cells.
Function: Required for germinal center formation and antibody affinity maturation. May play a role in lymphoma and leukemia genesis.
