NIH/3T3 (left) and Jurkat (right)
NIH/3T3 (left) and Jurkat (right) cell lysates were resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with purified anti-mAIP1 (Clone 13F10) antibody. Proteins were visualized using an HRP goad anti-rat secondary antibody conjugate and a chemiluminescent detection system.

Description:

AIP1(actin-interaction protein 1) is a 67 kD WD repeat protein known to regulate the depolymerization of actin filaments by cofilin and is conserved in organisms ranging from yeast to mammals. Recently, it was reported that caspase-11 and AIP1 cooperatively promote cofilin-mediated actin depolymerization.

Other Names: Actin-interacting protein 1
Structure: A protein of 67-kd WD-repeat protein. It contains as many as 10 WD repeats which is characterized by homologous sequence of around 40 amino acids with Trip-Asp(WD) at the carboxyl ends.
Function: Enhance actin filament disassembly in the presence of actin-depolymerizing factor cofilin.
Ligand Receptor: Caspase-11 interacts physically with AIP1 to promote cofilin-mediated actin depolymerization.
Interaction: AIP1 binds cofilin/actin depolymerization factor.
