Western blot analysis of extracts from Hela cells, using anti-14-3-3 ζ, Poly6378.
14-3-3 zeta is a 28 kD protein, also known tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monoxygenase activation protein, zeta polypeptide that belongs to the family of 14-3-3 proteins. This family of proteins mediates signal transduction and cell cycle progression by binding to phosphoserine and phosphothreonine motifs on a large number of target molecules. 14-3-3 proteins activate tyrosine and tryptophan hydroxylases and protein kinase C.There are eight known isoforms of 14-3-3: alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, and theta. The Poly6378 antibody has been shown to be useful for western blotting of human 14-3-3 zeta protein.
Other Names:
Protein kinase C inhibitor protein 1, KCIP-1, YWHAZ 14-3-3z, HS1>
Structure:
14-3-3 protein superfamily, homodimer, 28 kD
Distribution:
Cytoplasm, Melanosome.
Function:
Adapter protein implicated in the regulation of a large spectrum of both general and specialized signaling pathways. Binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif.
