Description: CXCR5 is a chemokine receptor which binds to CXCL13. CXCR5 is expressed in B cells and T folicular helper (TFH) cells (1). CXCR5 is required for migration of B cells to the follicular compartment in the spleen, lymph nodes, Peyer's patches, and tonsils, and normal maturation of primary follicle follicular dendritic cells (2, 3). CXCR5 and CXCL13 contribute in the B cell homing to Peyer's patches (4). In addition, T cell CXCR5 is required for germinal center response of normal magnitude (5).
Other Names: CXCR5, BLR1, CD185, MDR15, MGC117347
Structure: GPCR, seven transmembrane receptor
Distribution: B cells and a subset of T-helper memory cells
Function: CXCR5/CXCL13 signaling has been implicated in the migration of B cells to the follicular compartment in the spleen, lymph nodes, Peyer’s patches, and tonsils. In addition, CXCR5 and CXCL13 contribute in the B cell homing to Peyer's patches
Ligand Receptor: CXCL13
