Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. Test size products are transitioning from 20 µl to 5 µl per test. Please check your vial or your CoA to find the suggested use of this reagent per million cells in 100 µl staining volume or per 100 µl of whole blood. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application. Read more at www.biolegend.com/testsize regarding the test size change.

NCCIT (human teratocarcinoma cell line) stained with TRA-1-81 PE
The TRA-1-81 antibody reacts with a 200-240 kD cell surface antigen expressed by human embryonic stem cells (ESC), embryonic germ cells (EG), and embryonal carcinoma cells. The expression of TRA-1-81 on human ESC is downregulated upon differentiation. Further studies have shown that TRA-1-81 is neuroaminidase-resistant carbohydrate epitope expressed on podocalyxin, a member of mucin-like glycoprotein with CD34 family. Podocalyxin is a type I tranmembrane sialoprotein with anti-adhesion property.
Other Names:
Podocalyxin
Structure:
Mucin-like protein, CD34 family member, 200-240 kD

Purified anti-human TRA-1-81
HUES-9 ES cell colony was stained with Tra-1-81 antibody at 1:400 and then secondarily stained with Alexa Fluor® 546 goat anti-mouse IgM at 1:250 (red). Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue). Image was provided by Eric O'Connor and Karl Marquez, Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine.
