Description:

CD103, also known as Integrin αE or integrin αIEL, is a single pass transmembrane protein composed by two chains, heavy and light, linked by a disulfide bond. It is expressed in the cell surface as an αE/β7 heterodimer. CD103 mediates adhesion of intraepithelial T cells (IEL) to the epithelium. CD103 is expressed by IEL, effector and memory Tregs, and dendritic cells and their immediate precursors. E-cadherin is the ligand for CD103.

Other Names: Integrin αE, integrin E, integrin αIEL, integrin αOX-62, Itgae
Structure: Single pass transmembrane protein, composed by two chains, heavy and light, linked by a disulfide bond. Associates with integrin β7 to form the αE/β7 complex.
Distribution: Intraepithelial T lymphocytes, effector and memory Tregs, dendritic cells and their immediate precursors.
Function: Mediates adhesion of intraepithelial T cells (IEL) to epithelium.
Ligand Receptor: E-cadherin
